Three adjoining societies hired a trained care worker for 12 hours a day. Each family pays 600 rupees a month (demo).

The care worker visits each family for four hours a day, helping with errands, medicine reminders and walks. A phone tree lets residents call for help.

The model works best in buildings with 30 to 80 flats, the societies said, and needs a shared fund that is managed by a committee.

This is a demo story: every name, place, organisation and figure in it is fictional.
